How to read a peso exchange rate

An exchange rate is the price of one currency in another. On this page the base is the Philippine peso. A figure next to USD is how many pesos one US dollar is worth. The same rule applies to every other code: the number is pesos per 1 unit of that currency. Usual quotes are shown to two decimal places. If one unit is worth less than a centavo, extra decimals stay so two digits above zero remain visible.

The day change compares the latest saved quote with the previous date that actually has a quote. If Monday is a holiday, the comparison can skip back to Friday. A missing comparison is shown as “No data”. It is not replaced with zero.

Why the number moves

The peso price of a foreign currency moves when demand for either currency changes. Trade, remittances, interest rates, and the dollar’s own move against other currencies all show up in the daily print. This page does not try to explain any single day’s move and it does not forecast the next one.

Using the converter and the chart

The converter multiplies the amount by the peso rate of the currency you start with, then divides by the peso rate of the currency you want. Philippine peso is included as 1. If a rate is missing, the converter stops instead of dividing by zero.

The chart loads one currency and one range at a time. The buttons are 1 year, 6 months, 1 month, 1 week, and 1 day, counted back from the latest saved quote so a weekend still shows the last print. The date lookup asks the server for one day. If that day was not published, the answer names the earlier quote it used. It does not pretend the older rate belongs to the date you picked.
